World Cup 2022 Qatar is gradually coming closer, and here is what you need to know about the prestigious tournament.

Even though football was suspended due to the global pandemic in 2020, we got to enjoy international games during 2021. Now that things have almost come back to as they were before, let’s turn our attention towards the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

To begin with, this will be a unique tournament because it will be held in the months of November and December. All the World Cups that we have seen in recent years have been conducted in summer, rather than winter. What is the reason behind this? Let’s find out more about next year’s global competition.

When will the 2022 World Cup take place? ⚽📆

The schedule for next year’s prestigious tournament is from November 21 to December 18, 2022. The first game will kick off on Monday, November 21 at the Al Bayt Stadium, which will see the host nation Qatar (who have automatically qualified). And the final game will be held on Sunday, November 18, which will also coincidentally share the National Day of Qatar.

Why is the 2022 World Cup being held in winter? ❄️☀️

For obvious reasons, the 2022 World Cup will take place in winter due to extreme heat conditions in Qatar during the summer months. It will be the first tournament of its kind that will be held in winter, with the previous ones played in traditional summer months. The temperatures in the Middle East are acutely high during summer and are not suitable for playing football. According to stats, average temperatures in Qatar range from around 35C (95 Fahrenheit) and 45C (113 Fahrenheit) and will drop down to 16C (60F) to 24.5C (76.1F) during winter.
