Struggling to hit his top form, the former Bayern Munich man has looked unlike himself ever since making the summer switch.

Thiago Alcantara has been “a fantastic addition” to the Liverpool squad, asserts Jordan Henderson as he turns a deaf ear to the criticism of the summer signing.

Thiago’s €30 million signing was considered as the best transfer of the previous summer, with many labeling the business done by Liverpool an ‘absolute steal.’

With his quick feet and even quicker footballing brain, the Spanish playmaker was expected to take the Reds team to the next level.

However, things are not going according to the scripts. Form and fitness issues have prevented the midfielder to hit his top form, and questions are starting to get raised on his abilities.

Henderson, though, is convinced of his teammate’s abilities and holds Thiago in the highest regard.

“Thiago has been brilliant since he came to the club,” the Liverpool captain told the club website ahead of the Champions League last-16 first-leg meeting with RB Leipzig.

“I think everybody knows how good a player he is. He’s a world-class player and he’s been great to have around. I think he’s been a fantastic addition to the squad.

“He’s a phenomenal player and hopefully he can just keep improving each time he plays for us and getting used to the way we play as a team.”
