City suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season at Molineux.

Wolves defeated Manchester City 2-1 in their Premier League game on Sunday. The Citizens failed to mount a comeback as Wolves claimed their first win in four matches.

What happened?

Wolves found a solid start to the game, preventing the visitors from establishing their dominance early on. Things got better when Wolves stunned their opponents with an early opener.

Ruben Diaz turned Pedro Neto’s cutback into an own goal as the hosts went ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute. City immediately started their efforts to come back into the game. However, similar to their midweek defeat against Newcastle, they missed too many chances inside the box.

City increased the pressure after the break and finally managed to find the equalizer in the 58th minute. Julian Alvarez scored a spectacular free kick from the left edge of the box to revive City’s hopes of snatching a comeback.

However, Wolves managed to restore their lead only eight minutes later. Following a poor clearance from Nathan Ake, Matheus Cunha’s short pass found Hwang Hee-chan, who smashed it past Ederson with a powerful finish from inside the box.

City pushed hard to escape the defeat but Wolves maintained their defensive integrity to celebrate a massive home victory.
