On his return to the Molineux stadium, Diogo Jota grabbed the only goal of the game for Liverpool against Wolves, his former side.
Diogo Jota netted the all-important winning goal for Liverpool against his former team at Molineux.
Wolves started the game on the better foot and had two chances to open the scoring. Those misses would go on to hunt them later on.
Liverpool were not at their best on the evening but did just what was required to take all three points. Jurgen Klopp’s side had to ride out some nervy moments but they took the lead just before the break. Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Jota combined and the latter found the bottom corner past Rui Patricio.
That strike meant the Portuguese forward has now hit double digits for the Reds across all competitions.
However, the game was marred by an injury incident late on. Thoughts go out to Rui Patricio.
The Wolves’ goalkeeper collided with defender Conor Coady while trying to prevent Mo Salah scoring. The effort was ruled out for offside anyway but needed over ten minutes of treatment before being carried off on a stretcher.
Players from both teams cut a dejected look, especially for Wolves who already witnessed similar to Raul Jimenez earlier in the season.
For Liverpool, the win sees them return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Reds are now up to sixth place, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
