Despite being in search of a club, Jack Wilshere says he’ll never consider the idea of joining Tottenham if he was given the offer.
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere insists he would reject an opportunity to join Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham out of his loyalty to the Gunners.
The former England international remains a free agent since terminating his contract at West Ham at the start of October.
Injuries have plagued Wilshere for all of his career and more of the unfortunate theme followed him to West Ham.
The 28-year-old only played 19 times for his boyhood club before he agreed the mutual termination of his contract with the Hammers last month.
But despite his current plight Wilshere, who has not started in the Premier League since August 2019, insists he would never contemplate joining Spurs.
Asked on the Super 6 Podcast what he would do if Spurs made him an offer to join Arsenal’s arch-rivals, Wilshere said: “You know what, I love Jose Mourinho, I think he’s an unbelievable coach.”
“But I don’t think I could do it. You know what as well, let’s be honest, they’re not going to have me.
“I don’t think I could. It’s not as if Arsenal got rid of me and kicked me out and there is bad feeling, they offered me a deal and I wanted to try something else. I’m an Arsenal man.”
Where would Wilshere like to continue his career? The ex-Arsenal man opened up on that as well.
“I want to enjoy my football and play 25-30 games a season. I’m open to MLS, Europe anything with the right manager.”
“I think the good thing about when I went to West Ham was that they brought in Manuel Pellegrini who tried to make us a team that had the ball. Obviously that didn’t work out for him.”
“At Bournemouth they had a manager [Eddie Howe] who wanted to try and play and I had a really good year there.”
“When I went to West Ham, I didn’t know it was going to be how it was. With my experience now, I’d be silly to go and sign for a team who are in a similar position to West Ham.”
Wilshere continues to be in search of a club but the reality is not many club tops would look his way given his poor injury form over the years.
