Willian has urged his Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to stay put at the Emirates and help to build a triumphant era after almost two decades of suffering.

Willian only recently swapped Chelsea for Arsenal, and one of the main reasons behind his decision has been a chance of playing alongside Aubameyang.

The 31-year-old Gabon international seemed to be on his way of leaving the Gunners on multiple occasions last season, particularly during Unai Emery’s tenure.

However, Arsenal’s fortunes have turned around after the appointment of Mikel Arteta, which also affects Aubameyang’s position at the club.

After almost single-handedly bringing the FA Cup trophy to the Emirates, former Borussia Dortmund star has looked set to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Aubameyang, who’s yet to commit to fresh terms in north London, is currently on vacation in Italy.

Despite his future at Arsenal hanging in the air, Willian has urged the prolific striker to consider staying in the capital beyond the summer.

“I joined Arsenal because we can challenge for titles, but Pierre will be a big part of the plan,” he told The Sun.

“He has to stay — it is very important to me.

“This is a guy who gets 25-30 goals a season, and we have to keep a player like that.

“He’s one of the best players in our team and somebody I want to be making chances for.”

Aubameyang has been Arsenal’s headline performer ever since completing his blockbuster £56million arrival in January 2018.

Since he linked up with the Premier League outfit, no player has managed to outscore his tally of 54 top-flight goals netted.
