Greenwood restarted his football career after joining Getafe in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly decided against bringing back Mason Greenwood next summer.

The Red Devils suspended Greenwood after allegations of assault and attempted rape emerged against him in January 2022. The 22-year-old was ultimately cleared of all charges, but United decided against reintegrating him into their squad for the 2023-24 season.

A loan move to Getafe has given the English star enough playing time and exposure for a possible move to an elite side. Earlier this month, rumours about Barcelona and Atletico Madrid’s interest in signing Greenwood surfaced in the media. Real Madrid’s name has also appeared as a possible suitor for the Manchester United star.

A new report from talkSPORT claims that United are not planning to recall the English star next summer. The Red Devils are open to selling Greenwood to a “big club” next summer, with Getafe securing 20% of any transfer fee for the United loanee.

United are not in the best position to start negotiations for Greenwood’s possible sale. The buyers know the Red Devils are under pressure to offload the youngster next summer. However, competition between Atletico and Barcelona could help the English giants get a better deal for his permanent transfer.
