The Super Eagles made it back-to-back wins on Saturday to secure a spot in the AFCON knockout stages.
Wilfred Ndidi has warned teams in the Africa Cup of Nations that Nigeria’s best form is yet to come.
The Leicester City midfielder has helped Nigeria embark on a perfect start to their AFCON campaign by overseeing a 1-0 win over Egypt, before cruising past Sudan in a convincing 3-1 victory on Saturday.
Augustine Eguavoen’s men are through to the last-16 stage as a result, having already built a three-point lead at the top of Group D.
‘We don’t think this is our best yet’
Speaking to reporters after the win over Sudan, however, Ndidi insisted there is still more to come from the Super Eagles.
“So far, it’s been good and we have six points now, which is very important and we look forward to the next game,” he said.
“There’s always room for improvement and we don’t think this is our best yet, but we know that we will keep improving with each game as we move to the next round.
“So, there are still more games to come and we will see what happens. Our expectation now is to try to win our final group game as much as we know that we have qualified, but we try to take every game as the finals.”
The three-time AFCON champions next face Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday at the Stade Roumde Adjia in Garoua, Cameroon.
