What happened?
United fell behind only five minutes into the game as Dominic Solanke converted Lewis Cook’s precise low cross with a clever finish inside the box. The visitors had two more chances to increase their lead before the half-time whistle, but the woodwork and a late offside call kept United hopeful for the second period.
The Red Devils made a few attempts to find the equalizer after the break. But it was Phillip Billing who scored the Cherries’ second goal after a devastating counter-attack in the 68th minute.
It then took the visitors only five minutes to make it 3-0. This time, Marcus Senesi’s header found the bottom-low corner of the net after a brilliant corner from Marcus Tavernier. The visitors scored another one in the extra time, but the goal was disallowed by VAR.
