Barca’s financial issues have continued despite a number of top earners leaving the club.

Gerard Pique has expressed his frustration over Barcelona’s persistent financial problems.

Pique retired from professional football after leaving Camp Nou mid-season. Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets followed Pique’s footsteps and ended their glorious careers at the club ahead of the next campaign.

Barca are pushing to secure Lionel Messi’s return to the club in the summer. However, despite the departure of the experienced trop, it seems that Barca are struggling to stay below La Liga’s wage cap.

“I’m glad I left because it gave Barça space on the salary scale. But it seems that despite this, there are still financial problems. I wonder who should leave now,” Pique said.

“They said that we are responsible because of our salaries (Pique, Busquets, Alba). Now, we are all gone & yet they are not able to sign players.”

Joan Laporta met Jorge Messi on Monday, reportedly discussing Messi‘s return to Barcelona. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has reportedly received a mega offer to join Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, but he prioritizes a move back to Camp Nou as he prefers to continue his career at the top level.

Widespread reports in Spanish media claim Messi will make a final decision on his future before the next weekend.
