The highest-paid MLS players list for 2022 is out, with all data correct as of April 15, 2022.
Chicago Fire FC midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is Major League Soccer’s highest-paid player.
According to data from the MLS Players Association, Shaqiri will earn a guaranteed compensation of $8.15 million. The Swiss makes roughly $7,350,000 in his base salary. He signed a Designated Player contract to join Chicago last February from French club Lyon.
Sitting second on the list is Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez. The Mexican forward, who plays for LA Galaxy, has a guaranteed compensation of $6 million. Inter Miami’s Gonzalo Higuain completes the top three at $5.79 million.
Carlos Salcedo is the best-paid MLS defender. The Toronto FC star earns just under $2.4 million. Columbus Crew’s Eloy Room, meanwhile, makes the most money of any goalkeeper in the league at $883,000.
