The Citizens will look to claim their first trophy of the new season in Saudi Arabia.

Manchester City will travel to Saudi Arabia to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in early December.

The Citizens qualified for the tournament after winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history last season.

After losing the Community Shield match to Arsenal, City have another chance to claim their first trophy of the 2023-24 campaign.

City will join the tournament from the semi-final round. Pep Guardiola’s side will take on the winner of Urawa Reds’ clash with Club Leon.

Urawa Reds are the AFC Champions League winners, while Club Leon are in the tournament after winning the CONCACAF Champions League.

If they reach the final, City will face one of these four teams: Al Ahly, Al-Ittihad, Auckland City or Libertadores 2023 winners (TBD).

City will most likely spend five days in Saudi Arabia to participate in the tournament, adding further strain to their already packed schedule. However, winning the Club World Cup is a crucial endeavour for the club as it represents the only remaining trophy they have yet to clinch.

Speaking about the tournament, Guardiola said on Monday: “This tournament is very important, very prestigious. It’s not easy to qualify for, nor to win.”

The Spanish manager has a chance to win the Club World Cup for the fourth time as a manager.
