The Gunners have completed a record-breaking move to sign Rice ahead of the next season.

Arsenal officially announced the signing of Declan Rice on Saturday, completing their third summer transfer.

Both Manchester City and Bayern Munich were in the race to sign Rice. But Arsenal managed to sign the midfielder on a £100m deal from West Ham.

The move is finalized at the perfect time as Arsenal prepare to start their pre-season tour in U.S. Rice could make his unofficial Arsenal debut when the Gunners face MLS All-Stars on Thursday (July 20).

Mikel Arteta’s men will then take on Man Utd and Barcelona in their next pre-season friendlies.

“We’re really happy that Declan is joining us,” Arteta told Arsenal media“He is a player with tremendous ability, who has been performing at a high level in the Premier League and for England for a number of seasons now.

“Declan is bringing undoubted quality to the club and he is an exceptional talent who has the potential to be very successful here.”

Rice will have to wait until Arsenal’s Community Shield clash against Manchester City to make his official debut for the Gunners. The England star will face his former team, West Ham, in the Premier League on December 23.
