Arsenal’s imminent signing of Gabriel could play a part in City’s pursuit of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
It appears Arsenal are close to signing Lille defender Gabriel Magalahes signing. Good news for the Gunners but it could impact Manchester City’s transfer plans for Koulibaly.
The reason is that the Serie A side were also interested in the Lille defender. Rumor even has it that they had a gentleman’s agreement with the player.
In turn, Manchester City were pushing to sign Kouliabaly and Napoli were to use those funds to sign Gabriel as a replacement.
Napoli even brought their asking price down for the defender to speed up the process but Arsenal hijacked the deal regardless.
With Arsenal now getting Gabriel, Napoli are now considering going back to a ‘substantial’ offer for Koulibaly.
According to reports from Italy highlighted by Football-Italia, the Serie A side could go back to playing hardball. The whole scenario will put a dent in City’s plans.
However, City will still push on for Koulibaly but the whole process to complete a transfer might now become more difficult. It could also be more expensive as well.
