McKennie could join one of Juventus’ Serie A rivals next season.

Roma is reportedly considering a summer move for Weston McKennie.

The American midfielder joined Juventus on the back of a fantastic spell at Schalke in 2021. However, limited playing time convinced the 24-year-old to go on a short loan deal to Leeds United in January.

McKennie has returned to Juve ahead of the next season. But he might have to make another transfer decision amid interest from Roma.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Gialorossi have already contacted McKennie over a potential transfer. The club’s director of football Tiago Pinto is reportedly in charge of the negotiations.

Jose Mourinho is keen to add a new box-to-box midfielder to Roma’s ranks this summer. Given his impressive work rate and defensive abilities, McKennie seems like an ideal option for Roma.

However, Juventus might be reluctant to sell the USMNT star to one of their direct Serie A rivals. Mourinho’s side finished sixth in the Serie A last season, only one point above Juve.

In addition to Roma, Galatasaray have also shown interest in signing McKennie. However, the midfielder’s €30m price tag might convince the Turkish side to look for a cheaper option.

USMNT will take on Jamaica in their first Gold Cup game tomorrow. But McKennie won’t travel with the team due to his two-game ban from CONCACAF matches.
