Let’s take a look at the Player Ratings from the Premier League match between West Ham United and Chelsea at the London Stadium.

Arthur Masuaku’s bizarre late strike sealed West Ham a stunning 3-2 comeback win over Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Despite a slow start, the derby sprung to life when Thiago Silva headed in a Mason Mount corner-kick. The defender’s second goal of the season put Chelsea ahead on the brink of the half-hour mark. However, roared on by their home supporters, West Ham pushed hard for an equalizer and found one, albeit through a catastrophic error.

Jorginho made his second big mistake in as many games by playing a poor back pass to Edouard Mendy, who then brought down Jarrod Bowen inside the box to hand West Ham a penalty.

Manuel Lanzini then stepped up to send the Blues keeper the wrong way and draw the scoreline level at 1-1.

Four minutes later, though, Chelsea were back ahead. Hakim Ziyech’s deep cross found Mount, who belted the ball into the bottom corner of the net with a magnificent first-time volley. The midfielder’s wonder strike handed Thomas Tuchel’s side a 2-1 lead for the break.

The first half, though, ended on a worrying note for the Premier League leaders as Kai Havertz limped off the pitch.

Masuaku hits late winner

Despite introducing Romelu Lukaku for an injured Havertz, Chelsea failed to capitalize on their advantage in the second half. Instead, West Ham rose to the occasion, drawing level for a second time before finding a late winner.

Bowen, the man who won the club’s first-half penalty, equalized before the hour-mark for his third Premier League goal of the season.

Then, to cap off a relentless game, Masuaku scored a surprise winner. The Congolese hesitated at first after a quick throw-in, before suddenly firing the ball into the top corner of Mendy’s goal.

It didn’t look deliberate, but West Ham wouldn’t have cared!

The Hammers held on to claim a famous 3-2 win and retain their fourth position in the Premier League table. As for Chelsea, the Blues could lose their lead and slip to third if Manchester City defeat Watford later on Saturday evening and Liverpool beat Wolves in the other match.
