Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the new Premier League season at the London Stadium.

West Ham defeated Chelsea 3-1 in their Premier League game on Sunday. Ten-man Hammers secured a stunning victory over Chelsea’s star-studded squad.

What Happened?

West Ham shocked the visitors with an early goal as Nayef Aguerd found the back of the net in the seventh minute. Chelsea immediately started their attacks to get back into the game, putting pressure on West Ham’s backline from both flanks.

The Blues’ efforts paid off when Carney Chukwuemeka scored his first senior goal in the 28th minute. The 19-year-old picked up the ball on the left side of the box before firing a brilliant shot into the far corner of the net.

Chelsea increased their attacks after Chukwuemeka’s goal, hoping to complete their comeback. Enzo Fernandez had a perfect chance to make it 2-1 for Chelsea, but Alphonse Areola saved his penalty with a brilliant reaction.

The dynamic of the game changed after the break as West Ham gained more possession. Michail Antonio put the Hammers ahead again with a 53rd minute goal. But West Ham were rocked by Aguerd’s second yellow card a few minutes later as he was sent off by the referee.

Chelsea pushed hard to get back into the game but couldn’t convert their chances against West Ham’s well-organized defence. Moises Caicdeo came in just after the hour-mark but wasn’t able to inspire the Blues to mount a comeback.

The £115m midfielder’s disappointing debut was worsened by his foul on Emerson Palmieri, which resulted in a last-minute penalty for the hosts. Lucas Paqueta converted the spot-kick by sending Robert Sanchez the wrong way, making it 3-1 for David Moyes’ men.
