Man City dropped points but still held on to their place at the top of the league table.

West Ham held Manchester City to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League game on Sunday. A second-half comeback keeps City in pole position to clinch the title next week.

City survive another title-race scare!

Man City struggled to find their feet in the game early on, with the hosts finding several chances to open the scoring. The Hammers finally scored their first goal of the night through Jarrod Bowen in the 24th minute.

The Citizens immediately started their efforts to get back into the game. However, another swift counter-attack resulted in Bowen’s second goal for the Hammers as they went 2-0 ahead just before the half-time whistle.

It seemed as City were set for a tough second half, but Jack Grealish’s volley in the 49th minute revived the Citizens’ hopes for a quick comeback.

City doubled down on their attacks, providing more chances for the hosts to hurt them on the counter-attacks. Michail Antonio missed a one-on-one situation in the 65th minute as he failed to restore his side’s two-goal lead.

Only three minutes later, City scored the equalizer through Vladimir Coufal’s own goal. Following a cross from Riyad Mahrez, the defender jumped to clear the ball in the near post, but his header went right into the net.

City increased the pressure on West Ham’s backline in the final ten minutes of the game. They had a perfect chance to complete their comeback in the 86th minute, but Mahrez missed his penalty to keep Liverpool in the title race. Let’s see if the Citizens will regret this moment next week.

What’s next for Man City?

The Citizens stay at the top of the Premier League table with 90 points. Liverpool can close the gap to Pep Guardiola’s side to one point by beating Southampton on Tuesday.

With today’s result at the London Stadium, even a draw against Aston Villa can put City’s title chances in danger.
