Chelsea forward Timo Werner gave an honest opinion on his decision to join the club.
Timo Werner has labelled his decision to join Chelsea last year as ‘the right step’.
The former RB Leipzig star struggled to live up to his €53million price tag and goalscoring reputation last season, managing just six goals in the Premier League alone.
Werner’s struggles to convert his chances in games often left him on the receiving end of criticism. He did, however, chip in 15 assists across all competitions and helped Chelsea win the Champions League last month.
So while there were some initial doubts on the German’s behalf, European glory has justified his move.
“I have often asked myself: was it right, was it wrong?” Werner told Bild on his move to Stamford Bridge last year.
“Now I can say that it was the right step and the best decision.”
The 25-year-old was speaking ahead to Germany’s friendly against Latvia on Monday evening.
