Timo Werner is looking forward to wearing the Chelsea shirt for the first time as he prepares for the team’s first preseason match.

Timo Werner started gaining much attention from European giants with his performances with RB Leipzig last season.

Werner helped Leipzig secure a third-place finish in Bundesliga as he netted 28 goals and registered 8 assists.

He was also key to their impressive Champions League run, scoring 4 goals in eight matches, though he missed both quarter-finals and semi-finals.

Chelsea won the race to the sign him when they triggered his release clause, believed to be around €50 million, with the German marksman signing a five-year contract in June.

The 24-year old is now preparing for a preseason friendly match against Brighton ahead of his debut Premier League season.

“I’m very excited,” Werner said in an exclusive chat, as per the official club website. “I can’t wait!

“I was training on my own for a while when I first signed, but I’ve been working with the whole team over the past week or so and it’s been great.

“I’m very happy that the league starts in two weeks and I’m excited to test myself in the Premier League. I also can’t wait for the friendly game against Brighton, to finally get out there wearing the Blue shirt.”
