The World Cup winner has struggled to make his mark at Manchester United this season amid renewed doubts over his future.

Arsene Wenger has called on Manchester United to exert greater man-management skills to extract the very best out of Paul Pogba.

The 27-year-old’s future is once again under doubt after his agent, Mino Raiola, declared that an Old Trafford exit would be in the best interests of his ‘unhappy’ client amid another mixed campaign so far.

Pogba has started just seven of his 15 appearances in all competitions, including only one in the Champions League itself.

But the former world-record signing made a positive impact in United’s 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig. He helped inspire a late two-goal response during a 29-minute cameo in Germany, almost salvaging an unlikely point in Group H.

He was rewarded with a sixth Premier League start in Saturday’s derby against Manchester City. And while the midfielder had some decent moments, it wasn’t enough to prevent United settling for a 0-0 draw.

“I believe that you have to explain to a player that no matter what his future plan is, his interest and his job is to perform at the present club,” Former Arsenal boss Wenger told ESPN on the ‘Caught Offside’ podcast.

“It’s the best way to prepare your future, to play well in the present.

“When I saw Pogba coming on Tuesday night at RB Leipzig, I was sorry he didn’t start the game because straight away he made a huge impact.”

The latest transfer rumors claim Pogba could return to Juventus in January on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
