It has been suggested the Gunners could bring back their legendary manager if Mikel Arteta is finally relieved of his duties.
Arsene Wenger has played down talks of a potential return to Arsenal saying “at the moment I’m just a fan.”
Wenger was the longest-serving and most successful manager in the history of Arsenal.
Under the tutelage of the Frenchman, the London side were a force to reckon with in England as they won three English top-flight titles and seven FA Cup trophies, among other honors.
It was also under the former Monaco head coach that the Gunners managed to finish an entire league season unbeaten – a feat no other team has managed to accomplish.
Arsenal have regressed ever since his departure in 2018, and there have been speculations that the club could turn to their legendary manager, who now serves as FIFA’s chief of global football development, if they are unable to overcome their recent struggles.
Quizzed about his potential return to Arsenal on BILD Live, Wenger responded: “I’m 71.
“I’ve given this club the best years of my life.
“Today the club is in good shape. They had two tough games, the team has potential and I hope they can come back.
“At the moment I’m just a fan.”
