In a recent interview with Le Parisien, Arsene Wenger wanted to talk about the impressive similarities between Kylian Mbappe and Pele
The similarities between Kylian Mbappe and Pele became more evident after watching the Brazilian legend’s Netflix documentary. There are many similar things that happened to him and are happening to the young Frenchman right now. Nevermind the physical similarities, those aren’t as important as the coincidences. For starters, we saw Pele win the first World Cup he played as a teenager as it happened to Mbappe.
Their own countries are turning their presence into a matter of state. During that era, Pele wasn’t allowed to leave Brazil in the middle of a dictatorship. Although France is far from that political regime today, he does get pressure from politicians to remain at PSG. But the most striking resemblance between the two is their way to play the sport. They share a similar frame and they accelerate in a similar fashion when they have the ball at their feet.
Wenger thinks Mbappe is the new Pele.
In an interview with Le Parisien, Arsene Wenger pointed out the most obvious similarity between the two stars. If you think about it for a second, we already saw another player resemble one of the all-time greats from the old era. Messi even played similar to Diego Maradona. Perhaps it’s time for the new Pele to come forth and show the world the King is reborn. The only difference is that he is French now.
This is what Wenger said: “I’ve been saying for years there are similarities between Kylian and Pele. He is a good example to follow. Pele played four World Cups and won three of them (1958, 1962, and 1970). Kylian is only 22 years old, he already played the 2018 World Cup and won it. The environment for a player has a lot of weight for the success of his career. We needed stability in France. Nobody realized how lucky France is by having Kylian Mbappe.”
