Manchester United rejected transfer proposals for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, Atletico Madrid duo Saul Niguez and Yannick Carrasco, and former Real Madrid star Isco.

Christian Eriksen is out until the end of April at the earliest. Therefore, United made a last-minute dash for a short-term replacement. They had many options on the table, including the above-mentioned players, but preferred signing Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich. [Sky Sports]
