Christian Eriksen could soon start performing at the same level as he used to do while in the Premier League, Antonio Conte hopes.

After being unsuccessful in getting a taste of any silverware during his sever-year-long stint at the club, Christian Eriksen finally decided to call time on his Tottenham career last season.

A number of reputable European clubs reported had lined up for the Denmark international, who had forged his reputation as one of the best playmakers in the world at the time.

He chose Inter Milan as his next destination, but things have not worked out as he would have expected.

The midfielder, failing to convince new boss Antonio Conte of his abilities, was frequently seen warming the bench in the 2019/20 season as he struggled to adapt to life in a new environment.

Rumors then emerged that Conte was ready to part ways with his new acquisition this summer, after just six months.

Conte, however, suggests there’s no truth to those rumors as he instilled faith in the player while backing Eriksen to regain form.

“Compared to when he first arrived, he’s gone up a few gears, he’s playing in his ideal position,” said the Inter boss, via the official club website.

“We’re working with him because we know that he has important qualities. I have confidence in him, he trains really well and makes himself available for the team.

“I hope that he is able to quickly find that spark that will see him reach maximum levels.”
