The club-record goalscorer has only recently recovered from his injury and the Man City boss warns his return must be managed carefully.
Sergio Aguero has had a tough last couple of months with various fitness issues keeping him out of action for Manchester City.
The striker sustained a knee injury in the early stages of last season’s restart before picking up a hamstring problem last month.
Only three appearances have been made by the Argentine in the last five months and he has appeared in the starting XI only on two occasions so far in this campaign.
He was an unused substitute in his side’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
Aguero’s presence in the team is required now more than ever with Man City experiencing their worst start to a league season in a decade, but Pep Guardiola is against rushing the player back into the team with the view of avoiding further setbacks.
“I’m not going to say we don’t need Sergio, we need him. But Sergio is 32 and was five months injured with a difficult and dangerous injury,” Guardiola said, via Goal.
“He came back, he played 50 minutes and 55 and got injured again. We want and I want Sergio fit because I know how important he is for us and what he has done in the Premier League.
“But we have to be careful, to not get knocked back again and injured again and you have to see the right moment to put him back in the side. Hopefully, it can be soon and maintain the regularity to play games.”
