The MLS club proudly presented its two new star recruits to the fans.

Inter Miami CF introduced new signings Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets to a sold-out crowd at DRV PNK Stadium.

Despite a two-hour delay, heavy rain, and lighting, nothing was going to stop the big event, dubbed “The Unveil” from taking place on Sunday.

Over 20,000 fans, A-list celebrities, and athletes, including four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady, welcomed Messi to the United States of America.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has signed a multi-year contract with Miami. He has joined the club on a free transfer from French champions Paris Saint-Germain. His signing is the most profile in the MLS since David Beckham joined LA Galaxy in July 2007.

Beckham, who attended the event with his family, addressed the gravity of the moment. The now Inter Miami co-owner described Messi’s arrival as “a dream come true”, one that had been 10 years in the making.

“I couldn’t be prouder that a player of Leo’s caliber is joining our club,” Beckham told the crowd.

“I am also delighted to welcome a good friend, an amazing person, and his beautiful family to join our Inter Miami community. The next phase of our adventure starts here, and I can’t wait to see Leo take to the pitch.”

“America’s Number 10”

As the stadium lights shone bright, the crowd roared with excitement as Messi made his grand entrance. Walking down a massive catwalk, he was introduced as “America’s number 10, the world’s best number 10”.

The Argentina captain briefly addressed the crowd. He thanked everyone for his warm welcome and promised his “desire” remains as strong as ever.

Inter Miami also took the opportunity to present Busquets, their second summer signing.

The 34-year-old midfielder reunites with former Barcelona teammate Messi. He has joined the club for free on a contract until 2025, much to Beckham’s delight.

“One of the most complete midfield players of his generation,” Beckham, a former midfielder himself, said.

Messi and Busquets will team up with former Barca boss Gerardo Martino in Miami. Martino became Inter’s newest manager in June after Phil Neville’s dismissal.

On July 21, Messi and Busquets could make their debuts for Inter Miami. The club will play Mexican side Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
