The Dutch midfielder is against leaving Camp Nou amid Barcelona’s financial issues.

Chelsea are eying a transfer for Frenkie de Jong despite Manchester United‘s existing agreement with Barcelona.

A lengthy transfer saga has seen Man Utd pushing for De Jong’s move since the start of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils already have an agreement with Barca, but a Premier League rival has emerged as the Barca star’s new suitor.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are keen to add the former Ajax star to their ranks.

However, the Sky Sports journalist claims the Blues are yet to submit an official bid for the Netherland international.

Man Utd, on the other hand, have an agreement to pay Barcelona a guaranteed fee of €75m. However, the Red Devils still haven’t reached an agreement with De Jong himself.

De Jong reportedly insists on staying at Barcelona despite interest from the Premier League giants. Xavi Hernandez expressed his desire to keep the 25-year-old in his squad before the transfer window.

However, his more recent interview shows he now leans toward offloading the player ahead of the new season.

De Jong’s possible departure would provide Barcelona with enough funds to sign their only remaining target this summer.

The Catalans hope to add Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva to their ranks, completing their mission in Xavi’s first summer transfer window at Camp Nou.
