The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan midfielder took aim at two Chelsea players after the club’s midweek Champions League defeat.
Wesley Sneijder has described Wesley Fofana as a ‘waste of money’ and also questioned Chelsea’s decision to sign Marc Cucurella.
The two defenders, who cost a combined €145.7 million for Chelsea to sign last summer, played in the 2-0 first-leg defeat of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Fofana, who has struggled with injury problems since his arrival from Leicester City, started in a back three. While Cucurella came on as a 55th-minute substitute for an injured Kalidou Koulibaly.
“Who brings in a guy like that?” Sneijder said of Cucurella as per Voetbal Primeur.
“There are a few more like him running around [at Stamford Bridge].
“That Wesley Fofana too, signed for €80m, that really is a waste of money. Maybe the pressure is too big for him at such a big club.”
Cucurella may face his former club Brighton in Saturday’s Premier League clash. For betting tips and stats on the latest Chelsea game, visit the Ace Football match preview here.
