Cristiano Ronaldo once again scored a vital goal as Man United won their first game in the post-Solskjaer era.

Manchester United defeated Villarreal in their Champions League game on Tuesday. The Red Devils leapfrogged Villarreal on top of the group table as Ronaldo displayed another brilliant performance.

Ronaldo is always enough for a win!

The hosts started the game with confidence while Man United struggled to find their rhythm. The Yellow Submarines created several major chances, but they were denied by David De Gea’s heroics.

Villarreal continued challenging De Gea in the second half. However, Emery’s side were a little more self-conscious when it came to quick buildup play. Manchester United gradually gained possession in the final twenty minutes and soon got their reward.

Fred put pressure on Villarreal’s Capoue as he waited for Geronimo Rulli’s pass, which resulted in the ball getting deflected. However, Ronaldo found the rebound in the best place, lobbing a shot over the goalkeeper to open the scoring.

The late goal shattered Villarreal’s hopes for a home victory. Unai Emery’s side kept on attacking, but they were soon by another Man United star. Jadon Sancho sealed the victory by scoring his maiden goal for the Red Devils in the 90th minute.

Manchester United reached the top spot on the Group F table as they won their first match under interim boss Michael Carrick. The Red Devils will now prepare for their league match against Chelsea on Sunday. On the other hand, Villarreal slipped to second place and are now only two points ahead of Atalanta.
