Christian Vieri reckons new AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is plotting a shock reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jose Mourinho is targeting an ambitious move to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma, says Christian Vieri.

The former Tottenham boss has replaced Paulo Fonseca as Roma manager for next season. He has set his sights on Arsenal star Granit Xhaka and Manchester United ace Nemanja Matic to strengthen his midfield, but that’s just the start of it.

If Vieri is to be believed, Mourinho has set the bar very high by making Ronaldo a transfer target.

“Mourinho wants to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma,” former Juventus and Inter Milan striker Vieri said on Bobo TV.

Despite Massimiliano Allegri’s return as manager, speculation over CR7’s Juventus future remains ongoing.

Although his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, has claimed he plans to continue in Turin for a fourth season.

Cassano brands Vieri’s CR7 theory as ‘nonsense’

Former Real Madrid striker Antonio Cassano, meanwhile, reckons there is no chance Ronaldo and Mourinho will reunite at Roma.

The pair reportedly didn’t always see eye-to-eye during their three-year spell together at Real Madrid, despite Ronaldo scoring a brilliant 168 goals in 164 games under his Portuguese compatriot.

“Ronaldo to Roma? That’s nonsense,” Cassano said.

“Mourinho didn’t get on well with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. How can you think he’s going to go to Roma?

“I don’t know if it’s because they have the same agent, Jorge Mendes, or a Portuguese sporting director, but how can you think Cristiano’s going to Roma?”
