Former Italy international Christian Vieri believes the return of Giorgio Chiellini will help Juve to their 10th consecutive Serie A title.

Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini has been tipped to play a major role in the club as the new season looms.

A new era awaits the Bianconeri with Andrea Pirlo now at the helm of affairs.

Juventus won their ninth consecutive Serie A by a solitary point over Inter last season. They now have the chance to become the first-ever side to win the Serie A in 10 consecutive seasons if they defend their crown once again.

Chiellini missed a good chunk of game-time last season due to injury but is now back in contention for spots.

The 36-year-old injured in Juve’s first game of last season and only made four Serie A appearances in total last term.

Vieri, who once starred for Juventus and rivals Inter, says the return of Chiellini is a massive boost to Andrea Pirlo’s title hopes.

“I think [Juventus will win Serie A], especially if Chiellini will be fine,” Vieri said as quoted by Football-Italia.

“With him at the top, the Scudetto discussion risks ending very soon.”

“Juve have a devastating squad, it’s already a great team on its own, clearly stronger than the others. And with the captain in good condition, the whole group will be lifted, not just the defensive phase.”

The ex-Italy international also went on to praise the Juve captain as one of the very best in world football.

“Chiellini is one of the best defenders in the world. He has quality, charisma, physique, and mental strength.

“His presence on the pitch drags the others.”
