After Jurgen Klopp’s discouraging update yesterday, Virgil van Djik wanted to still remind people he is working hard on his recovery process.
Yesterday’s injury update on Virgil van Dijk was quite discouraging for all Liverpool fans who expected him to return this season. Basically, the German manager hinted at the possibility that the Dutch defender might not be ready to return to his full level of performance before the end of his campaign. It’s easy to understand why Jurgen Klopp would do this. He obviously doesn’t want to rush Virgil into an early return that could endanger his player’s physical condition.
Knee injuries like the one he suffered against Everton are amongst the toughest to beat for any athlete in any sport. In van Dijk’s case, the doctors told him he would be out for at least 6 months but he is trying to do his best to return faster than that. But the latest development after Klopp’s bad news might give supporters a glimmer of hope with the defender’s recovery process.
Van Dijk is working hard to return.
In a video shared on social media by the player, we can see Van Dijk working hard at the gym in order to recover completely from the issue. Jurgen Klopp already stated that the Reds will make some space for him to be included on the Champions League list. But he didn’t want to sound optimistic about anything. All that just went out the window with this video from Van Djijk himself.
Where we can see him jumping and applying pressure on his injured knee with small issues to maintain his composure. Although Liverpool did sign a defender to cover his absence, Virgil will still be considered as an option if Klopp sees his recovery is going well over the next couple of weeks. So far, it appears that the player is advancing at a rapid pace and might burn through recovery stages faster than usual.
