Today, Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho led Borussia Dortmund towards their first title with Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig.
This might be the only title that Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund win together because at least one of them is leaving this summer. Chances are Jadon Sancho is set to return to the Premier League to an undisclosed club. Today, both young stars wanted to make a statement against Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig. Sancho didn’t take long to drop his magic on the young coach with a brilliant curler at the fifth minute of the game.
Just before the half-hour mark, Erling Haaland bullied Upamecano to score his first goal of the evening. It almost seemed like both players were competing for the MVP award of the Pokal final. Sancho responded with a cool finish after an assist from Marco Reus before the break. That was 3-0 for Dortmund with an entire second half still left on the clock. It was clear that the night completely belonged to both Sancho and Haaland.
Leipzig responds but Haaland obliterates.
After the break, Dani Olmo pulled one back for Leipzig and gave the match a little excitement for the losing team. Despite their constant attempts to get more goals, the Red Bull squad wasn’t able to penetrate Dortmund’s defense. We still had a brilliant goal from Haaland to enjoy, one with his signature move. After making a clearance with a header, the lad jumped on his motorbike and took 12 seconds to run across the entire pitch.
He stepped on Leipzig’s box without breaking a sweat and scored the fourth goal for Dortmund. With a 4-1 victory, Borussia Dortmund are the 2021 Pokal champions. They at least got a chance to lift a trophy in a complicated season in the remaining tournaments. Could this be the last time we see both stars lifting a title together?
