VIDEO: Raphinha scores for Leeds and sends a message to Ronaldinho

Leeds’ new star Raphinha scored a fantastic free-kick and dedicated it to Ronaldinho’s recently deceased mother.

After a few unsuccessful games, Leeds secured an easy 3-0 win against Southampton this Tuesday. The Peacocks had come from two consecutive losses against Wolves and Arsenal. However, Leeds have now surpassed both clubs in the Premier League table.

The best goal of the night came through the feet of Raphinha, their €19 million summer signing from Rennes. The 24-year-old has been performing at a high level in England this season. Therefore, he will undoubtedly be targeted by bigger clubs once the season ends.

After scoring Leeds’ first free-kick goal of the season, the Brazilian player decided to pay a heartfelt tribute to his idol. In fact, Ronaldinho lost his mother this week after she lost a battle with Covid-19. Therefore, Raphinha displayed a shirt in his celebration with the following words: “A lot of strength to the Assis Moreira family. Rest in peace ‘Dona’ Miguelina.”

Raphinha received a yellow card for taking off his shirt in the match. However, the player surely didn’t mind the punishment. In fact, he couldn’t let the opportunity to pay a tribute to his idol’s mother. The Brazilian star scored his fifth goal of the season. Moreover, Brazil’s coach Tite should definitely keep his eye on the talented winger.
