Manchester City released a video of a young Phil Foden escorting his boyhood club’s players onto the pitch.
From club mascot to a key player, that is the Phil Foden story. The 20-year-old has been a confessed Citizen from a young age and emerged from fan to player through City’s youth sides. In fact, the Englishman has even recently confessed that he wishes to spend his entire career at Manchester City.
“I can only see myself playing for Manchester City, considering how much I’ve supported them from a young age. It always helps when you play for a club you support. When I was younger, it was a dream to play for the club, so never did I think I would make it to 100 appearances so early.”
In the current leaders’ last fixture, Foden was thrilled to score against new-rivals Liverpool. The player’s brilliant strike was his 10th goal of the season. Although we’re only halfway through the season, this has been the midfielder’s best spell at the club.
Moreover, to celebrate Foden’s recent efforts and their convincing 4-1 victory over the Reds, Manchester City released a video where a seven-year-old Phil appears as one of the club’s mascots. The soon to be star footballer seems thrilled to be walking onto the pitch next to his idols.
In fact, a young Phil Foden interacts with several first-team members and smiles while entering the field. The young boy walks hand-in-hand with Bulgarian footballer Martin Petrov. Manchester City went on to win this fixture against Sunderland with a single goal netted by one of the team’s best players, Irish midfielder Stephen Ireland.
