It happened during an important encounter against Marseille, as a pitch invader spoiled Lionel Messi’s attack with Paris Saint-Germain.

A pitch invader ruined Lionel Messi’s counterattack during Paris Saint-Germain’s 0-0 draw against Marseille on Sunday. The mercurial Argentine has made a poor start to a league season in 16 years following the weekend’s clash in Ligue 1.

In fact, PSG have now dropped points for the second time during this campaign after a goalless tie at Stade Velodrome on Sunday. And for Messi, this is the fourth consecutive duck for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since joining in the summer.

If you missed the live-action, the game was paused two times throughout the 90 minutes. Firstly, Neymar avoided getting injured by bottles thrown at him from the stands while taking a corner kick.

And then, Messi could not continue running with the ball as a pitch invader stormed towards the 34-year-old during a PSG attack. Luckily for him, the plunderer turned out to be a Messi fan and had no intention of harming him.

Howbeit, the former Barca player failed to net in his opening four games of a league for the first time since 2005-06. Apparently, Messi also conceded possession 16 times during the encounter against Marseille.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner will have to have the patience to open up his account for PSG until the next game. Up ahead for Pochettino’s men is a crucial battle with the reigning champions of Ligue 1, Lille, who they play on Friday.
