With several frantic days ahead of us, Lionel Messi’s plan just touched down in Barcelona’s airport with his contract extension pending.

After the first of two holiday trips, Lionel Messi’s plane just touched down in Barcelona’s airport with his wife and three sons. He lands as a Copa America champion with Argentina, a massive weight he finally took off his shoulders. Now that he can breathe knowing this, it’s time for Leo to arrange his future at FC Barcelona. The Catalan club has been working non-stop in order to get him to sign a new contract at the club.

But the squad’s financial issues have prevented them from getting that signature in recent weeks. Messi needed to get back to Barcelona in order to sit down with president Joan Laporta and start negotiating properly. There is still no confirmation of how much money he will accept in his new contract or if he will even entertain that idea. Reports of him taking a massive pay cut have been the norm but those are only rumors until now. Until Leo decides to take matters into his own hands, we won’t know what will happen for sure in regards to his new deal.

Messi’s itinerary over the next week.

According to Sport, Leo Messi will do everything in his power to sign his new contract at the beginning of next week. After that, he will go on a second holiday with his family to an undisclosed location. If everything goes according to plan, the Catalan club will announce Messi’s new deal within days. Just in time for the next season at FC Barcelona that promises to be a spectacular one.

As Leo approaches the end of his career, it is clear he wants to at least win another Champions League with his beloved club. Doing it alongside Sergio Aguero could be the perfect ending to his already impressive professional career. His best friend lifting the title alongside him just before he calls it quits. This is the image every Messi supporter wants to see within the next couple of years at least once more. Can Messi pull this off before hanging up his boots?
