Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé made history once again with a sensational brace, propelling his team to a crucial 4-1 away victory against Lorient and putting them on the brink of their 12th Ligue 1 title.

Mbappé’s two goals not only secured the vital win for PSG but also etched his name in French football history. With his tally now standing at 255 goals in all competitions for the club, Mbappé surpassed Roger Courtois to become the top scorer for a single club in the history of French football. Courtois previously held the record with 253 goals for Sochaux, as recognized by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

Ousmane Dembélé also played a pivotal role in PSG’s victory, contributing two goals of his own to put the team on 69 points with four games remaining in the season. With nearest challengers Monaco trailing by 11 points, PSG can secure the Ligue 1 crown by defeating Le Havre at home in their next fixture.

Despite missing key players like Bradley Barcola, Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, and Warren Zaire-Emery, who were rested ahead of the Champions League semifinal against Borussia Dortmund, PSG dominated proceedings against Lorient.

Dembélé opened the scoring for PSG in the 19th minute with a clinical finish, before Mbappé doubled the advantage just three minutes later, converting a Nuno Mendes cross.

In the second half, Dembélé extended PSG’s lead further with another goal, capitalizing on Mbappé’s assist. Although Mohamed Bamba pulled one back for Lorient in the 73rd minute, Mbappé sealed the victory for PSG with his second goal in the dying minutes of the match, taking his season tally in the top flight to an impressive 26 goals.

The comprehensive win puts PSG within touching distance of yet another Ligue 1 title, highlighting Mbappé’s invaluable contribution and cementing his status as one of the most prolific goal-scorers in French football history.
