West Ham’s new man Jesse Lingard had a dream debut for the club as he scored two goals against Aston Villa.

First game, two goals, and a solid Premier League victory. Can Jesse Lingard ask for more? The Manchester United outcast has proven he is still of relevance to English football after starting his spell with The Hammers in great style.

David Moyes’ decision to put Jesse Lingard on the starting XI just a few days after his arrival in London had some fans raising their eyebrows. However, the Scottish boss was proven right as the former Red Devil hit the net twice on his debut match.

The clash between Aston Villa and West Ham ended the first-half with a goalless tie. Nevertheless, the last 45 minutes of the game were far more interesting as both teams hit the net a total of four times. Although Soucek gave the Hammers a lead, JLingz was undoubtedly the star of the show. The English midfielder scored two goals in just 32 minutes.

Lingard’s first goal of the match came through a quick counter-attack led by Michail Antonio. The 30-year-old saw his teammate open on the left side of the pitch and delivered a perfect cross that turned into an assist. In fact, Lingard controlled the ball with his chest and saw Martinez deflect the ball unsuccessfully.

Additionally, Lingard’s brace was completed with another link-up with Antonio around the 83rd minute mark. This time, the midfielder ran across the right-wing and shot the ball to the middle of the goal. Although it was a powerful shot, the Villans will be left with the impression that Martinez could’ve done a little bit better.

After Lingard’s dream debut night, West Ham have managed to hang out to their European hopes as they still occupy fifth place in the league.
