With an assist and an incredible goal, Kelechi Iheanacho fires Leicester City to the Premier League’s third spot against Crystal Palace.

Leicester City has Kelechi Iheanacho, one of the best Premier League players of 2021. Today, the Foxes faced Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium with the chance to clinch the third position. Taking this squad out of European competitions with the Super League proposal would’ve been a complete injustice. Especially considering how well Iheanacho has been playing since 2021 kicked off.

Currently, he already scored 10 goals throughout the year and he alone is responsible for his team’s success. We are witnessing the second-highest goalscorer in English football this year, just behind Harry Kane. If things continue going as they are, Brendan Rodgers’ squad will qualify to next season’s Champions League in the third position without a problem. There’s even a chance for them to finish in second place if Manchester United lose points from now until the end of the season.

After Wilfried Zaha’s opening goal for Crystal Palace, Kelechi Iheanacho assisted Castagne five minutes into the second half. However, this momentary draw wasn’t enough for Leicester City to confirm their third spot position. A victory today would give them 62 points and place them only five below Manchester United. This is when the Nigerian star decided to appear with an outrageous finish after an assist from Johnny Evans.

With practically no space and two defenders covering him, Iheanacho released an impressive strike to the top corner with a small angle. This goal will make all the covers of the weekend and can surely compete for goal of the season in the Premier League. Just take a look and judge for yourself. Iheanacho is finishing the season as one of the best players in English football.
