During his presentation, Eric Garcia reacted to his return to FC Barcelona and spoke about the comparisons with Gerard Pique.

It’s official, Eric Garcia is finally back at FC Barcelona after a short period at Manchester City. During his time with the Citizens, he learned everything he could from Pep Guardiola in order to come back as a better player. His beloved Blaugrana club was always the ultimate goal, Garcia couldn’t wait to make it happen. As a kid, Eric shared the dressing room with the likes of Ansu Fati and Oscar Mingueza. Now that he returns from his English adventure, both of these players made it to the first squad.

Upon arrival, comparisons with Gerard Pique were inevitable but Garcia wanted to avoid any type of comment about that. In fact, there is a serious conversation about the youngster possibly taking Pique’s spot in the near future for the time the veteran retires. Garcia prefers to enjoy the moment and remind everyone he is a Barcelona fan at heart. During his presentation, Eric couldn’t help but smile throughout the event.

Garcia brushes off any comparison with Pique.

During his presentation, this is what Garcia told FC Barcelona’s website: “I can’t compare myself with Pique. I’m barely starting my career and Pique has been the best defender of the last decade. Having him as a teammate is my pleasure but it is also highly demanding. I will have to play at his level. Coming to Barcelona is always great. The president marked an optimistic path that has a combination of youth and experience. We will do the best for Barça. The board didn’t trust the academy too much when I left and Manchester City’s project was the best for me back then.

“I am very happy with my experience there. Nobody will discover Guardiola is a great manager. I will be forever grateful for the trust he gave me when I arrived in Manchester. He works hard on the tactics with all his players and that the source of his success. It doesn’t matter whether he succeeded here or in Manchester. I am just another Barcelona supporter. I was just as excited as the next guy with Mingueza and Araujo’s inclusion to the squad. It will be better for Barça if the three of us can play together.”
