It happened during El Clasico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Karim Benzema scored one of the best goals of the season.
We all hoped either Leo Messi or Karim Benzema could appear tonight during El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The French striker was the one who drew first blood against a disoriented Blaugrana side at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium. After an assist from Lucas Vazquez, nobody expected the finish from Benzema that left everybody astounded.
A majestic backheel finish allowed Los Blancos to get the lead in a rainy night in Madrid. After this, Ronald Koeman’s side wasn’t able to respond during the first half of the game. Toni Kroos also scored a goal from a set piece that was deflected by Sergino Dest. Real Madrid wasn’t dominating the game with ball possession, but we already know they don’t need that to be effective.
Benzema gets closer to Messi at the top.
With this goal against Barcelona, Karim Benzema moves to 19 goals in La Liga this season. He takes the second place of the table. He shares it with Gerard Moreno and Luis Suarez. But the man at the very top is Leo Messi with 23 goals after the end of the first half tonight. We still have a long way to go in this game but Real Madrid has a clear advantage right now.
If Los Blancos win tonight’s game, they would take second place in the table if Atletico Madrid defeats Real Betis tomorrow. At the start of the second half, Barcelona had an even more complicated scenario with an incredibly rainy night in the city of Madrid. Who do you think will win tonight’s El Clasico, Real Madrid, or Barcelona?
