It was surprising to see two rare goals from Borussia Dortmund’s defender to help level things with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels netted two goals to help his side level points with leaders Bayern Munich. BVB, therefore, managed to beat Arminia Bielefeld by 2-0 in the Bundesliga clash on Saturday.

As seen by all, Dortmund dominated the entire first half but could not breach the hosts. It was rare for Hummels as he created two opportunities by himself including a sublime outer foot cross to Jadon Sancho. However, the England international missed the golden opportunity to score along with another attempt by Manuel Akanji.

Although, the rigorous efforts put by the Dortmund team received suitable rewards in the second half.

A one-man show.

Sancho’s corner kick saw a clueless Hummels push the ball into the net for the first goal of the game in the 53rd minute. And then in less than 20 minutes, Dortmund created a two-goal cushion against Bielefeld.

A crafted lob ball by Marco Rues was tucked in by Hummels yet again past Stefan Moreno. Apparently, the German international scored two goals in a league game since 2010.

With a 73 percent possession, Dortmund survived the Bundesliga clash in the absence of Erling Haaland. Clearly, all they needed was the 31-year-old Hummels.
