The Nerazzurri failed to break the deadlock throughout the 90 minutes on Wednesday night which resulted in weighty consequences.

Arturo Vidal assures Inter Milan will avoid making similar mistakes in their domestic campaign that resulted in their premature elimination from their European one.

Two defeats and as many draws had put the Italians in a high-risk position heading into the final matchday of the Champions League group stage.

A win was a must for progression, with their fate in the competition also dependent on the other result.

Not only were they held to a goalless draw against Shakhtar Donetsk, however, but Real Madrid also beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0, and they finished at the rock-bottom of Group B.

Inter, though, are going strong in Serie A, sitting just below league leaders AC Milan and two places above defending champions Juventus.

Vidal wrote in a Twitter post: “It was very sad to miss such a unique opportunity to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

“But we will stand up and learn from our mistakes by giving our best and putting it all in every game to win the Scudetto. Forza Inter.”
