Raphael Varane has had a long history with Zinedine Zidane since he was a teenager and destiny could get them back together at Manchester United. During their tenure together at Real Madrid, Varane and Zidane won a total of four UEFA Champions League titles. But more importantly, the defender learned valuable lessons about life and the sport. Zidane has been his biggest mentor inside the game and he glows when they ask him about a possible reunion.

Although ‘Zizou’ has the France National Team as his top priority, Manchester United is right up there. Saying no to coaching Varane and Ronaldo again would be difficult. Also, saying no to coaching great players such as Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, or Jadon Sancho would be a grave mistake. But first, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to be sacked and Zidane needs to be approached. Anything beyond that happening first is only speculation. The rumor mill is strong with this possibility and the press is already asking questions to all the parties involved.

Varane would love to reunite with Zidane.

Whether it’s with France or Manchester United, Raphael Varane sure would love a reunion with one of his mentors. When asked about the gaffer, the French defender didn’t shy away from praising their time together at Real Madrid. Here’s what The Mirror picked up from Raphael Varane earlier today: “My first reaction is that I feel proud for the last ten years. He took me from Lens to Real Madrid and I have learned a lot alongside him.

“He is a coach that has a human side. He is a source of inspiration, not only for me but for many players who have met him. Seeing him leave is strange for me and for an entire generation of players at Real Madrid. It has been a pleasure to work with him, and it would be nice for it to happen again in the future. He is a great coach and a great human being.”
