The Reds next welcome bitter rivals Man Utd to Anfield after snapping out of a two-game winless run on Wednesday.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has asked the fans to help create a ‘big atmosphere’ at Anfield for Sunday’s Premier League showdown against Manchester United.

Second-half goals from Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah saw Liverpool overcome Wolves 2-0 on Wednesday, sealing the club a first win in two games. They will now prepare for a Manchester United side that is on an 11-match unbeaten run (W9 D2).

“I think we need a big atmosphere on Sunday,” Van Dijk said on Premier League Productions.

“I think today obviously it was quite nervous, and hopefully on Sunday we can get everyone in their best – including us because we obviously have to do the hard work on the pitch against an in-form Man United.

“So, we will recover now. We will be ready for Sunday, of course.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit sixth in the Premier League standings with 39 points from 24 games, six points outside the top four and a further four behind the third-placed Manchester United.
