Virgil van Dijk has urged his teammates to try and maintain the same levels of performances as in their title-winning campaign.

One of the qualities that massively contributed to Liverpool’s glory in the Premier League last season was their relentlessness.

Jurgen Klopp’s men managed to grind out results week in week out, even in the most difficult of matches, and ultimately ended up successful in ending a 30-year-long wait.

It was their relentless nature that saw them go on an incredible 44-match unbeaten streak and come very closer than anyone to matching Arsenal‘s ‘invincible’ season.

Liverpool started the new season on a high note, with a 4-3 win against Leeds United, and are widely expected to defend their crown.

Virgil van Dijk, however, wants his side to not focus too much on the future as he lays emphasis on continuity and stability in the team.

“Consistency is the most difficult thing in football, I think – to keep doing it week in, week out. Year after year. And that’s something that we try to achieve,” Van Dijk told Premier League Productions.

“Obviously if you look at the last two seasons in the league, we have been very consistent.”

“We are trying to look at games that are ahead of us and not think about what’s going to happen in the next two or three months. We just focus on what is in front of us, try to win that, and give everything we’ve got.”
