Real Madrid stage a stunning comeback to snatch a 2-1 win against Valencia in a dramatic encounter at Mestalla on Sunday.

Valencia looked to have the game in the bag as they were still leading with five minutes remaining on the clock, holding onto Hugo Duro’s 66th-minute strike.

The hosts, however, were eventually punished for being wasteful in front of goal, as Real Madrid scored two goals in two minutes late on to steal all three points.

Vinicius Junior got the visitors back into the game. The Brazilian, after receiving a pass from Karim Benzema on the left flank, hit a first-time shot that took a big deflection off Foulquier and slipped in at the near post.

The duo combined again for the match-winner, with that time Vinicius turning provider as he curled in a teasing cross towards the near post. Benzema, who was lurking in the area, rose the highest to meet the cross and headed home to complete the comeback.

Real Madrid remain at the top of the table with 13 points, maintaining a two-point lead over defending champions and second-placed Atletico Madrid.
