An easy win over Uzbekistan didn’t showcase USMNT’s ideal form.

United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 in a friendly match on Saturday. Timothy Weah scored an early opener for Gregg Berhalter’s side, who failed to find the back of the net again until after the 90th minute.

Two late goals from Ricardo Pepi and Christian Pulisic increased USMNT’s lead. But the performance still needs improvement, according to Berhalter.

“We can improve and we need to improve and we will,” he said post-match.

“I really, really liked the mindset in the last 10 minutes of the game. You could see the guys still wanted to push. I think that it’s a good baseline for us to start and say this is what international competition from other regions looks like.”

Weah pointed to fatigue as the main culprit behind USMNT’s underwhelming display at CityPark.

“Definitely a tough one, because I felt like there was a lot of fatigue today,” the Juventus newboy told TNT. “It’s one of those games where you just have to knock it out, make sure we win, take the positives and the negatives, go back into training and do what we have to do.”

Following their win over Uzbekistan, USMNT will take on Oman in their next friendly fixture on Wednesday.
